I Want My Carpet Cleaned Inc. is committed to safeguarding the personal information entrusted to us by our clients. We manage your personal information in accordance with Alberta's Personal Protection Act, and other applicable laws. This policy outlines the principles and practices we follow in protecting your personal information.

This policy applies to I Want My Carpet Cleaned Inc. The policy also applies to any person officially providing services on our behalf.

What is personal information:

Personal information means information an identifiable individual. this includes an individuals' name, home address, and phone number, age sex, marital or family status, an identifying number, financial information, etc.

What personal information do we collect:

We collect only the personal information we need for the purpose of providing services to our clients, including personal information needed to:

*Open and manage an account.

*Deliver requested products and services, or information.

*Enroll clients in a program.

*Send out association membership information.

*Provide warranties for products and services.

*Contact clients about appointments.

*Follow up on satisfaction of services or products.

*Notify clients of upcoming promotions or events.

*Administer a loyalty program.

*Grant credit, or check credit.

*Meet regulatory requirements.

We normally collect client information directly from our clients. We may collect information from other persons with your consent or as required by law. We may also collect information, about clients or others when, as an example, information is offered to a representative of this company with or without request by this company at a time such as a referral is offered in a situation where a person or company thinks we should contact another specific person or company in some way associated with the referrer. We inform our clients before or at the time of collecting personal information, and for the purposes for which we are collecting the information. However we do not provide notification when a client volunteers information for an obvious purpose. (Such as when a client is producing a cheque or other form of payment that has identifying information printed on it, or address or address for the appointment being booked.)

As per service providers outside of Canada:

We currently have none at this time, that would normally involve the transfer of personal information, when this becomes necessary we shall inform, as necessary those affected.  

Consent:

We ask for consent to collect, use or disclose client personal information, except in specific circumstances where collection, use or disclosure, is authorized or required by law.  We may assume your consent when you volunteer information for an obvious purpose.

We ask for your express consent for some purposes and may not be able to provide certain services if you are unwilling to provide consent to the collection of certain personal information. Where express consent is needed we will normally ask clients to provide their consent orally(in person or by telephone), in writing (by signing a consent form, by checking a box on a form), or electronically(by clicking a button).

In cases that do not involve sensitive personal information, we may rely on an "opt out" consent. For example we may disclose information to other organizations that we feel may be of interest to you, unless you request that we do not disclose your information. You can do this by informing us orally, in person or by phone, or in writing. We do not offer any organization any personal information, such as in the way of direct profiting by selling, renting, leasing, or such.

A client may withdraw consent to the use and disclosure and disclosure of personal information at any time, unless the personal information is necessary to fulfill legal obligations. We will respect your decision, but we may not be able to provide you with certain products and services if we do not have the information.

We may collect, use or disclose client personal information without personal consent only as required by law. I.E. we may not request consent when the collection, use or disclosure is reasonable for an investigation or legal proceeding, to collect a debt owed to our organization, in an emergency that threatens life, health or safety, or when the personal information can be collected from a, generally public source.

How do we use and disclose personal information:

We make reasonable effort to ensure that your information is accurate and complete. We rely on our clients to notify us if there is any change to the information that may affect the relationship with our company. If you are aware of an error in our information about you, please let us know and we will correct it upon request wherever possible.

In some cases we may need a written request.

We protect personal information in a manner appropriate for the sensitivity of the information . We make reasonable effort to prevent any loss, misuse, disclosure, or modification of personal information, as well as any unauthorized access to personal information.

We will notify the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta, without delay, of a security breach of personal information if it creates a real risk of significant harm to individuals.

We retain client personal information as long as it is reasonable to fulfill the purposes for which the information was collected, or for legal or business purposes.

We render client personal information non-identifying, or destroy records containing personal information once the information is no longer needed.

We use appropriate security measures when destroying personal information, including but not limited to shredding paper records, and deleting electronic records.

Access to records containing personal information:

Clients of I Want My Carpet Cleaned Inc. have a right to access of their own personal information in a record that is in our custody or in our control, subject to some exceptions. For example: organizations are required under the Personal Information Protection Act to refuse to provide access to information that would reveal information about another individual. Organizations are authorized under the Act to refuse access to information if disclosure would reveal confidential business information. Access may also be refused if the information is privileged or contained in mediation records.

If we refuse in whole or in part any request for personal information we will provide the reason for the refusal. In some cases where exceptions to access apply, we may withhold that information and provide you with the remainder of the record.

You may make a request to access to your personal information by writing to The President of I Want My Carpet Cleaned Inc. You must provide sufficient information in your request to allow us to identify the information you are seeking.

You may also request information about our use of personal information and any disclosure of that information outside our organization. For personal information no disclosures would have occurred. 

You may also request a correction of an error or, omission in your personal information.

We will respond to your request within 45 calendar days, unless an extension is granted. We may charge a reasonable fee to provide information, but not to make a correction. We will advise you of any fees, that may apply before beginning to process your request.
